Welcome

On behalf of the members of the AI4EO project we want to say: 🎊 Welcome to our challenges platform !

In this website you will find coding challenges that you will have to solve using Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms on Earth Observation (EO) applications, having at your disposal data such as Satellite Imagery. It is your goal to develop the best solutions to real-world problems that can have a huge impact in our society. Plus, you get to win amazing prizes 💸.

Finding your way through the platform

Creating an account

In order to participate in a challenge, your will need to Sign In. You can do it with your Google or Github account (recommended) or ask for a magic link to your email. The first time you sign in, we will register you as a new participant. Afterwards, you can see and modify your data in your Profile.

Challenge information

Every challenge has its own dedicated page, where you will find all the relevant information such as the main objective of the challenge, the data and download links, prizes... and also a forum, where you can find any other relevant information by the community such as tutorials and important announcements. Please, use the forum to post any doubts or questions !

Joining a challenge

Once you feel prepared to enter a challenge, just click on the "JOIN" button. You will be prompted with two options, either create a new team or join an existing one. You are required to participate as a team, but you can always create a team for yourself if you prefer to ride solo. If you decide to join a team, select one from the list and an email will be sent to the team leader in order for you to be accepted (or not). Once you are accepted, you will receive an email notifying you about the result. Take into account that only team leaders can make submissions to a challenges, as well as manage the team (adding or removing members, changing leadership, etc). You can switch teams at any point, but keep in mind that your past submissions will no longer be accepted.

Making submissions

After joining a challenge (either by creating or joining a team) you will se the SUBMISSIONS button, that will allow a team leader to upload a submission file in order for it to be evaluated. Once the evaluation is completed (it may take a while depending on the task), a score is computed for every metric and your team is placed on the leaderboard accordingly. On the leaderboard, you will see your team's position relative to other teams on every metric. On your submissions, you will see your actual scores. We think that hiding your opponent's scores will spice up the competition. Keep in mind that your position in the leaderboard is always computed with your last submission, so make sure you only upload your best results (and safely save your past submissions in case something goes unexpected).

When the challenge ends, the top solutions will be evaluated by our jury and the winning teams will be rewarded with points that can be exchanged for prizes.
